Join DC Badgers for an unforgettable evening with Corey Pompey, associate director of bands at UW–Madison and the man behind the beloved UW Marching Band. Whether you’ve cheered from the stands at Camp Randall or streamed the Fifth Quarter from across the country, this is your chance to hear the stories behind the music — and raise a glass with fellow Badgers. The evening will feature remarks from Dr. Pompey followed by a Q & A and mingling. A complimentary drink ticket is included for each guest age 21 or older.
The cost is $30 per person or $20 for recent graduates (within the last 10 years).

The Man Behind the Badger Band
Dr. Pompey will talk about his experiences leading the famed UW–Marching Band, as well as what it is like to succeed the legendary Mike Leckrone. He will give an inside look into the beloved organization that has been sharing music with the people of Wisconsin since 1885.
Speaker
Corey Pompey was appointed associate director of bands at UW–Madison in the spring of 2019, succeeding longtime director Mike Leckrone. Before coming to Madison, Dr. Pompey held positions at the University of Nevada–Reno, Penn State, and the University of Texas at Austin, where he worked across marching, concert, and athletic band programs at all levels. He also spent seven years teaching in Alabama public schools. Dr. Pompey holds a bachelor of science degree in music education and a master of arts degree in music education from the University of Alabama. He earned his doctor of musical arts degree in wind conducting at the University of Texas. Principal conducting teachers include Jerry F. Junkin, Kenneth Ozzello, and Gerald L. Welker.
